The Silence is getting louder!

Contrast always makes something stand out more that it would by itself. For instance a white dot on a black paper can be easily seen or an ink stain on a white shirt. So too is the continued silence of most of our churches and Christian leaders about sexual abuse and domestic violence. The silence has always been there but since most of the world was silent it went unnoticed for generations. But now that more and more people are speaking up about abuse and more victims are coming forward with the truth about abuse and the brokenness that it leaves, the contrast is clear indeed. The silence of the church against the backdrop of the cries of millions of hurting people is getting louder all the time. The question is will the church as a whole ever wake up and mourn over the evil that has flourished in it’s midst. Will it ever heed God’s call to purge out the old leaven? Will it ever heed God’s call to turn these offenders over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh? Or will they ever rise up and contend for the faith that is mentioned in Jude 1:3 because the men that are mentioned in verse 4 that have crept into the church are using the grace of God to commit sexual sin and thereby are bringing irreparable harm to the faith. Verse 7 says they have given themselves over to sexual immorality. Will the church contend for the faith or will they continue in silence while her children are being raped and molested?

About Dale Ingraham @ Speaking Truth In Love Ministries

We started Speaking truth in love Ministries to address the issue of sexual abuse within the faith community. My wife, Faith, is a survivor of many years of abuse by her father who was a pastor at the time. We go into churches, colleges and conferences to speak about this issue.
