Thursday Thought — Truth is Not Always ‘Nice’ but it is Necessary

A Cry For Justice

I have written something to the church, but Diotrephes, who likes to put himself first, does not acknowledge our authority.  So if I come, I will bring up what he is doing, talking wicked nonsense against us.  And not content with that, he refuses to welcome brothers, and also stops those who want to and puts them out of the church.  (John 1:9-10 ESV)

Alexander the coppersmith did me great harm; the Lord will repay him according to his deeds.  Beware of hm yourself, for he strongly opposed our message.  (2 Timothy 4:14-15 ESV)

Let me make note of one false notion that wicked, abusive men make use of to perpetrate their façade and masquerade of being righteous, godly, fine, upstanding Christians and fathers and husbands. It is this – “If you cannot say something nice about someone, you must not say anything at all.” Now, let me challenge you…
